Dear parishioner,
Here’s what’s happening this week!

Ascension of the Lord
As a reminder, in most Catholic dioceses of the United States, including the Diocese of Richmond, the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord is transferred to the Seventh Sunday of Easter. On Thursday, May 13, we will have Mass at 12:10pm in honor of Our Lady of Fátima on her feast day. On Saturday and Sunday, May 15 and 16, we will celebrate the Ascension of the Lord according to our regular weekend schedule.

CRS Rice Bowl Grant
Thank you to the Catholic Diocese of Richmond’s Office of Social Ministry for awarding us $2,000 from the CRS Rice Bowl grant for equipment and supplies for the Urban Farm at God’s Storehouse.  We are grateful for all the ways our diocese supports our local parish and community.

Diocesan Work Camp 2021
The Diocesan Work Camp is a weeklong camp experience for high school youth to serve our brothers and sisters in need by making their homes safer, warmer, and greener while also having the opportunity to grow in our Catholic faith. It is an opportunity for parishes to make a difference in the lives of those in need right here in our local community while encouraging youth to answer their baptismal call to serve others.
If you or a teen you know is interested in this opportunity, please contact Joyce Bustamante at joyceb@sheartchurch.org
Deadline to register is May 24th!

New Catholic Virtual Academy
Saint Vincent de Paul Virtual Academy (SVVA) is opening this fall for students in grades 8-12 throughout the Diocese of Richmond. It will be administered by the faculty and staff at Peninsula Catholic High School who have experience delivering their curriculum virtually since 2016. Applications are being accepted for high school students seeking a dynamic virtual learning experience built on Catholic values. Join us for our Virtual Open House on Monday, May 10th at 6pm via Zoom. Contact Alyson LeMaster, Director of Enrollment, at 757-596-7247 ext. 106 to register or visit our website to learn more about SVVA.

Watch Party with
Fr. Jonathan
Beginning in June, Fr. Jonathan will be hosting watch parties of 30 minute videos with discussion afterwards on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

Following Christ
Following Christ will continue to meet on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
Following Christ is the second part of the ChristLife evangelization process. This course guides people in how to live as a Catholic disciple of Jesus Christ in today’s world based on basic disciplines and truths that have been practiced by Christians from the time of the early Church. If you have completed Discovering Christ and are interested in joining, please contact Joyce Bustamante at joyceb@sheartchurch.org

Prayer List
Please continue to pray for the spiritual and physical health of these brothers and sisters in Christ.

Mass Times

Bishop Knestout has dispensed all the faithful in the Diocese of Richmond from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass until further notice. However, if you choose to attend a public Mass during the weekday or weekend, it is absolutely imperative that you adhere to the various guidelines and requirements. Please take the time to watch our video on how to safely return to Mass and participate in the liturgy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the parish office.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19, Mass is still being live-streamed for use on various Diocesan digital media accounts of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, including, but not limited to, the websites of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond and the Catholic Virginian, and the social media platforms of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. Photography and/or screenshot images from the live-stream may be used for the Catholic Virginian print edition.
