Bishop Knestout has dispensed all the faithful in the Diocese of Richmond from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass until further notice. However, if you choose to attend a public Mass during the weekday or weekend, it is absolutely imperative that you adhere to the various guidelines and requirements. Please take the time to watch our video on how to safely return to Mass and participate in the liturgy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the parish office.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19, Mass is still being live-streamed for use on various Diocesan digital media accounts of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, including, but not limited to, the websites of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond and the Catholic Virginian, and the social media platforms of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. Photography and/or screenshot images from the live-stream may be used for the Catholic Virginian print edition. If you do not wish to be captured by live streaming, please refrain from attending that particular Mass time.

Our Mission

Sacred Heart Catholic School’s mission is to establish a strong foundation for lifelong learning and provide an educational environment in which the basic tenets of Christian morals and ethics are visibly present. Recognizing the unique needs of each student, the faculty and staff will endeavor to nurture, challenge and guide all students toward their maximum academic, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional potential. As a Catholic school, we will emphasize God’s word and celebrate His presence through prayer, liturgy, and service to others.

Other Announcements

Advent Bags
We are preparing advent/Christmas bags for inmates at Green Rock Correctional Center in Chatham, VA. It's likely we won't be able to gather as a large group to assemble the bags in December, so we've decided to start now and work on it throughout the fall.

You can sign up for a date and time to come by and help prepare bags on the left side and click Volunteer!
If you would like to help now, we are in need of these supplies for the bags:
  • Paper bags (7x4x13in)
  • Christmas cards
  • Construction paper
  • Pretzel/chips
  • Mints (round, dissolvable type, color: red and white)
  • Lined notebook paper
  • Envelopes
  • Postcard/mailing card
  • Ramen noodle packs
  • Hot chocolate packs
  • Prayer cards/holy cards
Please drop off your donations at the church. We appreciate your generosity!

Join us in praying the Holy Rosary

Throughout the month of October, we will pray the rosary 20 minutes before Mass on Saturdays and Sundays. We invite you to come join your fellow parishioners in prayer. St. John Paul II described the Rosary as a prayer which “in the sobriety of its elements” concentrates “all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety”, and through which “the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer”.

Reminder: Support the Knights of Columbus Coat Drive! All coats must be new with the price tag still attached. Please drop off your coats in the large red box in the church commons. The box will remain in the commons until Monday, October 12th. Any monetary donations can be given to Elaine Taylor in the parish office. Thank you for your generosity!

Prayer List
Please continue to pray for the spiritual and physical health of these brothers and sisters in Christ.
