Family Faith Formation
Most Wednesday, 6:00 – 7:30 pm, beginning on September 8th, 2021
Faith Formation is Catholic religious education for Pre-K (4) through 12th grade. You do not need to be Catholic to attend, but must be interested in learning more about the faith and engaged in building traditions and community. When Jesus was here, he gathered in community with others, often around a table. When we gather during Mass at banquet of the Eucharist, it makes a difference when we know the other people in the pews. Participating in Faith Formation allows us to grow together as one strong, caring community. If you feel that you are called to help with Wednesday night Faith Formation for either PK3-5th grade or 9th-12th grade, please contact Joyce Bustamante at joyceb@sheartchurch.org. We currently need 5 volunteers for PK3-5th grade and 2 volunteers for 9th-12th grade.
This year we will have adult bible study from 6:00pm-7:00 pm discussing the Gospel of Mark.

To register your children, complete the attached form. To join us for adult bible study, click the “signup” button.

Is your marriage going down the right road . . . or is it a little off track?  Life can be difficult, and so can the challenges you face in marriage. Does the distance between you seem wide? Are you already separated? Looking for a better way?

For more information about an upcoming Retrouvaille Weekend program on October 22-24 for couples, email retrouvaillenc@msn.com or visit our website: www.HelpOurMarriage.com

Would you like to direct your Virginia State Taxes to Sacred Heart Catholic School? You can through the Virginia Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits program. Individuals or businesses making contributions of $500 or more can receive a Virginia TAX CREDIT equal to 65% of the donation. The monies are used for tuition assistance for students from families whose household income is less than 300% of the poverty level (for example, $72,900 for a family of 4), or 400% if the child is disabled. In addition, donors who itemize will also receive deductions for charitable contributions on state and federal taxes. Participants should consult their tax advisors to determine their specific tax savings.  Individuals and businesses can receive substantial tax benefits by contributing through the EISTC program. Contact Donna Comper at 793-2656 for more information.
Our Mission
Sacred Heart Catholic School’s mission is to establish a strong foundation for lifelong learning and provide an educational environment in which the basic tenets of Christian morals and ethics are visibly present. Recognizing the unique needs of each student, the faculty and staff will endeavor to nurture, challenge and guide all students toward their maximum academic, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional potential. As a Catholic school, we will emphasize God’s word and celebrate His presence through prayer, liturgy, and service to others.

Mass Times

Bishop Knestout and other bishops have decided to lift the dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Days Mass obligation in the Dioceses of Richmond, and will reinstate that obligation beginning on Saturday, June 26, 2021 and Sunday, June 27, 2021. We welcome and encourage the Faithful to return to full in-person participation of the Sunday Eucharist, the source and summit of our Catholic faith. If you would like to read the joint statement regarding Lifting the General Dispensation from the Obligation to Attend Mass , please click here.
This obligation does not apply to those who are ill; those who have reason to believe that they were recently exposed to the coronavirus, another serious or contagious illness; those who are confined to their home, a hospital, or nursing facility; or those with serious underlying health conditions. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the parish office.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19, Mass is still being live-streamed for use on various Diocesan digital media accounts of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, including, but not limited to, the websites of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond and the Catholic Virginian, and the social media platforms of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. Photography and/or screenshot images from the live-stream may be used for the Catholic Virginian print edition. Dear Sacred Heart Parishioners:

This is just a friendly reminder as it has become more and more frequent that people are receiving fake emails requesting money, gift cards, etc. from someone pretending to be a person that you know. Unfortunately, many of these emails tend to come in the form of an email account pretending to be Fr. Anthony, other parish office personnel, or school personnel. While, the Diocesan I.T. Department has zero control over which email accounts are created, it’s important to identify these fake email accounts, and remember that Fr. Anthony (or any Diocesan employee for that matter) will not handle business through an email address that is not part of the Richmond Diocese domain (@richmonddiocese.org). This is also the case for any Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic School employee and our email domains (@sheartchurch.org and @sheartschool.com, respectively).

These scams continue to be perpetuated because they continue to work. We ask that you do not reply to such emails, click on links within those emails or download content in them. If you receive help requests that you think are legitimate, verify that the person is legitimate by calling them directly on another known valid number. Don’t ask the emailer for information or a call. Find an offline method of correspondence that you and that person have used in the past to talk with each other.

In Christ,
Sacred Heart Catholic Church personnel
